It was a solemn gathering of several individuals who came to pay tributes to the late Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, during the week. The dress code for the day was white and Nollywood stars, religious leaders, music ministers, and other entertainers trooped in their numbers to celebrate the life of the deceased.
Nancy Isime looked fabulous in her white dress which she combined with a transparent white piece that covered her eyes. Some people felt her outfit was out of place but other netizens defended her, noting that Alex always loved to look good and it was only normal for his friends to dress nicely to his service of songs.
Although white was the colour of the day, some people still went against the rule including ace broadcaster Ifedayo Olarinde, aka Daddy Freeze, and his wife. They wore black to the occasion which was greeted with mixed reactions.
In her tribute, Isime recalled how Alex used to call her the old N20, and even after she started making money, he still did not stop calling her N20. Besides, she said that the deceased had a bad mouth which some people may not know about him.
Several gospel ministers were present during the service of songs such as Nathaniel Bassey, Moses Bliss, Kaestrings, Ebuka Songs, and Mercy Chinwo, among others. Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International gave a sermon admonishing people who keep malice. He advised them to desist from it.
In addition, he said that no one knows who will be next to leave Earth and no amount of money can stop that from happening. Hence, people should live in peace with one another and live right with God.
Even in death, it was evident that Alex Ekubo was loved. At age 40, he might have gone too soon, but his memory lives on. The Abia State indigene was survived by his wife, siblings, and his parents.
