The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) might have been done and dusted, but fans have continued to share their thoughts about the bread-themed dress of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang.
On May 9, 2026, Queen stormed the venue of the award ceremony in Lagos with a ball gown designed with 500 loaves of bread. The massive size of her attire limited her steps, causing others to help her to lift the bread on her dress while she walked.
Mixed reactions trailed the dress which was designed by prolific fashion designer and the CEO of Tiannah Place Empire, Toyin Lawani. Some people felt she wasted the bread which could have fed many hungry people.
Others wondered how she would be able to sit with such an outfit. Also, some fans felt she wasted millions in a dress which she won’t wear again.
While mouths continue to wag over Ms. Atang’s dramatic AMVCA outfit, the former reality star noted that she rocked the attire to promote her bread company.
This realization made some netizens to understand theG concept behind the unique attire. However, it did not stop some people from suggesting that the bread used to make the gown could have been minimal.
